The popcorn brand Jolly Time has been named the best microwave popcorn in recent blind taste tests by two renowned U.S. media outlets.
Both The Washington Post and Food & Wine magazine crowned Jolly Time the overall winner when compared with other well-known U.S. brands. In the independent comparative tests, published in March 2026, taste, texture and overall appeal were the key evaluation criteria.
Double test winner
The Washington Post, one of the most respected daily newspapers in the United States, tested twelve national microwave popcorn brands. Jolly Time Butter Flavored Microwave Popcorn ranked number 1. Judges praised its rich aroma, light and non-greasy kernels, and its soft, airy crunch.
The internationally respected food magazine Food & Wine also reviewed seven leading U.S. popcorn brands. Jolly Time was named “Best Overall,” earning the title of best microwave popcorn. Highlights included its subtle sweetness, well-balanced buttery note, and a crisp texture that is clearly audible and satisfying when eaten.

These results carry particular weight given that the United States is considered the birthplace of popcorn and, with a per capita consumption of over 7 kilograms per year, is widely regarded as the ultimate authority on popcorn.
