Update nuclear accident in Japan

July 2011

Dear business partners,

Several months have passed since the natural disaster struck Japan in March. Japan has become the centre of the world’s attention and people all over the world are worried about the radioactive radiation. Gustav Gerig AG has analysed the situation and is now able to give an update on the current situation.

1. The Gustav Gerig AG product range does not include any products from Japan or any other products that may have been imported into Switzerland via Japan.

2. Ingredients: generally none from Japan. Exceptions are KIKKOMAN Teriyaki and Sushi & Sashimi Sauce: before the nuclear accident, part of the ingredients came from Japan. Since then, the provenance of the ingredients has been changed.

3. Tuna: No fishing activities have taken place in the fishing area FAO 61 since the disaster.

At Gustav Gerig AG, we do our utmost to continue to guarantee the safety of our products. In order to avoid any risks for consumers in Switzerland, we constantly monitor the current situation and take the required measures if necessary.

The question of whether any items from our product range might contain raw materials of Japanese origin cannot be fully answered at this point in time. We are currently making respective enquiries with our suppliers. As soon as we have received conclusive statements from our suppliers, we will inform you again.

Our Key Account Management team, our person responsible for Quality Management as well as our CEO are all happy to assist you in any product-specific enquiries. Our contact details are available here.

Thank you for your attention.

Best regards,
